Ek Deewana Tha (Hindi: एक दीवाना था, ɛ́k deewana tha ?) is the title of an upcoming Bollywood romantic drama film, written and directed by Gautham Menon, featuring Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson, in her Bollywood debut, in the lead roles.It is the remake of Gautham Menon’s own Tamil and Telugu film, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa and Ye Maaya Chesave, with a different cast and climax, featuring soundtrack and film score composed by A. R. Rahman, while the cinematography and editing are handled by M. S. Prabhu and Anthony Gonsalves, respectively. Renganaath Ravee is the sound designer of the film. The film, produced by IN Entertainment, which is an entity of the Hinduja Group and Gautham Menon’s Photon Kathaas, is currently in its production stage and is expected to release in early-2012.Gautham Menon started working on Ek Deewana Tha, the Hindi remake of his superhit Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa which was also released in Telugu as “Ye Maaya Chesaave”, in 2011, with Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson in the lead roles. Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, considered by many as path-breaking, gave an all-new image for the lead pair of Silambarasan and Trisha Krishnan. Though the Hindi remake initially had Trisha Krishnan reprising her role, the actress was unceremoniously dropped from the project after a photo shoot and replaced by Amy Jackson, who shot to fame with the Tamil film Madrasapattinam.
